Registration Information

All puppies will be registered with the American Border Collie Association. If you wish to compete in AKC events, any ABCA registered dog with a complete 3-generation pedigree can be registered with the AKC.

I have no desire to keep my dogs genetics from being used to create more nice border collies or exert control over anyone else's breeding decisions of a quality dog I've produced, but realistically not everyone has the best interest of maintaining a quality line at heart. While I would love to produce only top quality working dogs that should be bred, no breeder is capable of that and every generation (and puppy within a litter) needs to be evaluated on it's own merit. 

Therefore, if you fall into one of the following categories there is a good chance your pup will be sold without breeding rights:

Sport/Pet Homes: Active pet and sport homes can be a wonderful and fulfilling place for a border collie. I am happy to accept applications for these homes that are not interested in breeding at all. These puppies will go with non-breeding papers. If you end up being interested in breeding the dog without working it, see below in "Sport Breeding Homes".

Sport Breeding Homes: While I only place puppies in homes I think will do right by them and by the breed, I have seen many breeders find out the hard way that owners were not honest. Therefore, sport puppies are placed non-breeding with case-by-case potential to lift to full registration. This would occur after your dog's third birthday, if we agree they are an exceptional example of a sport dog in both athleticism and temperament.

First-time Working Homes: If you are not yet running a dog in Open or working dogs in a real-world equivalent, I may also want to sell your puppy with limited rights. If this is the case, I'd be happy to lift this to full once you compete in Open successfully or the dog is proven to be a talented breedworthy dog in a real work setting, from my own judgment or the judgment of another experienced person.
